Arena Fonte Nova Entrusts Facial Recognition to Imply®

Recognized as one of the most modern and versatile arenas in Brazil, the Casa de Apostas Arena Fonte Nova has just raised its innovation standards even further. Following the trend of major sports and cultural complexes in the country and around the world, the Arena has adopted the Facial Recognition System from Imply Tecnologia. Over 100 validators have been implemented at the stadium entrances. Located in downtown Salvador, the capital of Bahia, the impressive arena has a capacity of over 48,000 fans.

A pioneer, Arena Fonte Nova was the first multi-use stadium in the world to earn the ISO 9001 International Quality Certification. In line with its commitment to safety and excellence, the complex chose Imply technology to transform the public experience, ensuring greater agility, control, and flow in accessing games and events. Since November 2013, the venue has already used Imply’s Access Control System, including during the FIFA World Cup 2014, of which it was one of the official venues.

Imply®’s Facial Recognition System uses advanced algorithms capable of identifying hundreds of unique points on each individual’s face, with a 99.9% accuracy rate in less than one second—from recognition to access authorization. In addition to agility, the technology enhances security by making tickets personal and non-transferable, reducing practices like illegal reselling. The system will be integrated with the clubs, allowing facial biometric registration to be completed online at the time of purchase. As a result, access becomes even more practical: the fan’s face becomes their own credential.

This innovation redefines security and convenience standards in the arena. With high-precision cameras and artificial intelligence, the system identifies faces based on unique biometric features, comparing them with previously registered data. This eliminates the need for physical tickets or cards. For the public, the main benefit is smoother access. Authentication takes just a few seconds, reducing lines and crowds at entrances. The result is a more comfortable and efficient experience—especially during major events like games, concerts, and cultural performances.

Facial Recognition: Imply® technology transforming access management in stadiums

Imply® brings to stadiums an innovation that redefines standards of security and convenience in public access: the facial recognition system. With high-precision cameras and AI-based algorithms, the equipment identifies faces based on unique biometric characteristics, comparing them with previously registered data. This removes the need for physical tickets or cards: the face itself becomes the entry key.

Safety First

The adoption of facial recognition in stadiums not only enhances security but also directly contributes to combating illegal practices such as ticket scalping and the entry of individuals with legal restrictions. Integration with official databases allows for agile preventive and reactive actions, thus creating a safer environment for all attendees.

Agility for What Matters Most: The Public

For the public, the key advantage is access fluidity. The system can authenticate users in just a few seconds, significantly reducing wait times and avoiding entry crowding. This results in comfort, convenience, and a much more positive experience—especially during high-demand events such as games, concerts, and cultural shows.

Operational Intelligence and Resource Optimization

Besides improving the fan experience, the facial recognition system represents a significant gain for the operations of clubs and stadium administrators. By automating processes and reducing reliance on manual labor for ticket control, the technology helps minimize financial losses and offers more accurate monitoring of sector occupancy.
