Concessionaire Via Brasil Modernizes BR-163 with VMSs
The BR-163 connects the state of Mato Grosso to the main port terminals in Pará, through which most of the production from Brazil’s Midwest is transported. With over a thousand kilometers in length, the highway serves as a link between producers, suppliers, and buyers, whether for export, import, or commerce.
Managed by the concessionaire Via Brasil, the BR-163 has been undergoing enhancements to improve traffic flow, always prioritizing safety. Along this route, 17 new Imply® Fixed Variable Message Panels have been installed. These Fixed VMSs are LED signaling structures that offer high brightness and energy efficiency, ensuring excellent visibility and quality information for drivers.
Visible from up to 300 meters away, the panels operate 24 hours a day and allow for instant updates, streamlining and maximizing communication with drivers. The technology of the Fixed VMSs used by Via Brasil along the BR-163 enables the transmission of visually appealing messages in various colors and formats, such as construction and accident alerts, warnings of detours or slowdowns, speed reductions, risk areas, and tourist information. The ability to combine information also allows for educational messages aimed at raising driver awareness, potentially contributing to a reduction of up to 80% in the chances of accidents.
